    THE REFUGE

    Located in Valmalenco near the Alpe Ventina. In 1992 the new refuge was inaugurated, that was built thanks to Maria Rota Gerli’s contribution to remember her husband Amerigo, famous alpinist of Milan. Gerli Refuge is near Augusto Porro Refuge, that had been built in 1936, in memory of our member and his sister Lisetta, who disappeared on Corvatsch in 1935.

     

    HOW TO REACH THE REFUGE

    From Sondrio reach  Chiesa Valmalenco (m 960), San Giuseppe (m 1435) and park in Chiareggio (m 1612). On the left of the church and Alpine Hotel square, near a fountain, take a muletrack (white-red directional arrows) and the bridge over Mallero Stream and go on in the South-West direction, on the right hydrographic bank, between lawns and trees. Gradually, the muletrack enters into the woods and keeps going along Ventina Valley, with a continuous and not steep climb. After some tight bends, the muletrack becomes more comfortable and reaches Gerli Refuge on Alpe Ventina (1965 m, 1 h).
